The Text(ure) of the World in Presidential Rhetoric
We meet this week under the banner of "Global Communication: Customs, Challenges, and Changes." Ours is an age of globalization brought on, in part, by the revolutionary expansion of communication technologies and capacities. Within my own lifetime-the past 60 years-we have gone from a society where radio was the predominant medium, both nationally and internationally, to a world in which the Internet and social media link peoples in America and Australia, Indonesia and Israel, Mozambique and Morocco.
