From "Sick-Care" to Healthcare
Thank you, Arnold (Milan) and welcome, everyone. We are here in what I understand is one of the world's most important forums for CEOs to speak about one of the nation's most important issues-the future of healthcare.
My book on this subject-A Call to Action: Taking Back Healthcare for Future Generations-is dedicated to my first grandchild, Sarah, age two.
If all goes as it should, Sarah's life may reach into the nextcentury, and her travels may take her everywhere from Metro Detroit to Mars.
But in healthcare, things aren't going as they should.
In my view, if current trends continue, the healthcare systems that serve my grand-daughter and her generation may end up in worse shape than the healthcare systems we already described as "failing."
That goes against a tradition and value we all share, thatevery generation should work for the welfare of the next.
