Why Federal And State Governments Must Act Now To Prevent A National Emergency

Thank you. Thank you very much. I'd also like to thank Peter Huntsman for his insightful and provocative comments this morning. I know he has seen the ravages of runaway natural gas prices up close.

Some have called this a "concern," a "problem" or a "bump in the road." It's not - it's a crisis, not just for our industry, but for our entire nation.

We all depend on affordable, available natural gas. With winter approaching and more than half of all American homes depending on natural gas for heating, we are perilously close to a state of emergency. Our manufacturers need it for production. Our consumers need it for the thousands of products made with it. And without it, American jobs will be exported to countries where it costs less and supplies are plentiful.
